ABOUT JOYIN

Joyin was only eight years old when she composed twenty poems for Welcome To The Poetree. Given her young age, she found the challenge a bit daunting but was able to complete the quest gallantly.

At the age of two, she was one-half of the J2J4 children’s charitable project. She is currently actively involved in Hampers 4 Homeless initiative. She is a dedicated Christian and loves looking after little children.

She formed a dance group with three of her cousins when she was four years old. It was called Awesome Foursome and it wasn’t uncommon to see them performing some choreographed dance steps at a wedding. Those were the days.
A few years ago Joyin and Jola were invited to participate in a talent competition. After some thought the duo decided to read a ten-minute news bulletin written in the form of a poem. It was truly a unique feat and the judges gave it rave reviews. On their return home, we decided to write to one of the leading news media organisations in the UK to sell the idea of having a news programme anchored by children.

We did not receive an acknowledgement, but a few months later the same media outlet launched a children's news programme. Joyin walked into the room, saw the programme on TV and asked “Dad did they just steal our idea” We will never know for sure.

Joyin has a true passion for fashion and is a talented hairstylist.

She is also a very creative cook and is known to come up with unique recipes by adding her special touch. She makes a mean burrito and chicken spicy wrap. Even though she recently clocked sixteen she is a savvy business lady that has the knack of turning a pence into a pound. Of all the poems she contributed to the WTTP book, Candy ville is definitely her favourite. Maybe it’s because it is based on her love for the tasty things in life.

Joyin has possibly one of the best handwriting in the world and insists on using only one brand of pen when writing.

ABOUT JOLA

Jola is a young gentleman of numerous talents. He is a feisty fencer and skilled Saxophonist. He was ten years old when he composed his ration of thirty poems for the Welcome To The Poetree project.
He has a deep passion for mathematics and a love for the game of chess. Jola is also a cadet with the Royal Air Force. On the day he was meant to take his maiden flight the great British weather had alternative plans and the flight was aborted.

Alongside his sister, they have been deeply involved in various charitable ventures. At the age of four, he was a co-founder of J2J4, an organisation that distributed gifts to children’s hospitals, charities and hospices. Their motto is inspired to inspire.

Later on, they set up Hampers 4 Homeless project which is involved in distributing vital provisions to people sleeping rough in East London and Essex. Their activities were put on hold during COVID-19 but resumed in 2023. He cherishes his faith as a Christian and how it teaches him to demonstrate practical love to all mankind.

During the six weeks that it took Jola to compose his poems for the WTTP book, he revealed a deep insight into his views on political and social issues. Some of these views seemed beyond his years and there was one line in one of his poems that left his Dad speechless. See if you can identify it when you read the book.

Co-authoring WTTP proved a challenging yet rewarding task for Jola.

Perhaps the hardest part was having to compose them for most of his six-week holidays when he could have been on a beach in Tenerife. There were times when you would find him searching the internet in search of an elusive word that would rhyme with a word he intended to use in a poem. His Dad did not have the heart to tell him that not every word had a direct rhyme. Even though Jola was pushed to the limit the finished work was definitely worth the effort. The idea to have all the poems translated into cartoons was Jola’s brainchild and has made the book WTTP, a work of captivating art and beautiful prose.

Amongst Jola’s numerous feats, possibly his greatest achievement to date is he makes the meanest rocky road.

If you’re ever in his neck of wood why not stop by for a bite? And the adventures of Jola continue. He is off to university to study……. Yes, you guessed right.
